Livelihood support: Conservational Agriculture, Economic Empowerment, and Energy-Saving Stoves

CaRNaC Uganda recognizes that sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation are key to ending poverty, improving food security, and protecting future generations. Our Agriculture and Conservation Program empowers communitiesespecially vulnerable households to adopt climate-smart farming practices that restore the land, increase yields, and generate income while caring for the environment.

Training in Conservation Agriculture

We provide practical training to farmers on conservation agriculture techniques that promote soil fertility, water retention, and sustainable land use. These include minimal tillage, crop rotation, mulching, and organic fertilization methods that protect the ecosystem while improving productivity.

Our trainings are conducted in community settings and are tailored to both beginner and experienced farmers. The goal is to reduce land degradation, combat the effects of climate change, and improve food production using environmentally friendly approaches.

Model Gardens for Demonstration and Learning

To enhance practical learning, CaRNaC Uganda establishes and supports model gardens within communities. These demonstration plots serve multiple purposes:

  1. Provide hands-on training opportunities for farmers
  2. Showcase successful conservation farming methods
  3. Inspire replication of techniques in individual homes and farms

Farmers visit and learn directly from these gardens, making it easier to adopt proven methods that can be scaled to meet household and community needs.

Fruit Tree Distribution for Nutrition, Income & Conservation

As part of our reforestation and nutrition campaign, CaRNaC distributes fruit trees to families. This initiative supports:

  1. Environmental conservation through increased tree cover
  2. Household income through the sale of surplus fruits
  3. Improved nutrition by encouraging consumption of fresh, organic fruit
  4. Each tree planted is a step toward climate resilience, ecological balance, and a healthier family..
